On Wednesday I had the amazing opportunity to blog at the DIT Semi Finalist Fashion Show. If you're not familiar with the show it has a reputation for being a showcase for some of Ireland's most exciting up and coming Irish designers. Major Irish talents including Simone Rocha have used the show as career launch pad, needless to say the standard of work is extremely high. Click below for more photos of the night. Image heavy post prepare for a fashion overload

Yummy cupcakes for the guests

The entrant's inspiration lookbooks were on display prior to the show beginning. It was really interesting to see the influences behind each piece and also the technical sketch work. "House of Chaos" was the theme for this year's show which made for some very thought-provoking and unusual pieces.

Regina O'Duffy's take on religious imagery immediately caught my attention. The excessive decrotive detailing combined with a darker edgier element is right up my street. I was so excited to see her design after flicking through her striking lookbook.

I could tell from this sketch that this dress would be one of my favourites, in love with the caging detail.

And now for the designs themselves. I was seriously blown away by the level of technical detail and also creativity in each piece. It's always great to see such inspiring works being produced right on our very own doorstep. Well done to all the contestants!
Another of my favourite dresses, perspex, mesh and a midi skirt all in one - what more could a girl ask for? Really disappointed this design did not get through to the final. I predict big things for Siobhan Cahill the designer behind this piece.

Really liked the lantern shape contrasted with the flowyness and femininity of this dress

I'm obsessed with the belt detailing on this dress, so gorgeous

Wishing I had some sort of appropriate occasion to wear this dress to.

Another of my favourite pieces from the fashion show, fringing, floral headbands and layers of jewellery - all elements which I happily embrace within my own wardrobe. The level of detail and quality of the overall piece is flawless.

The judges deliberating over the final results

More photos of the fringing goodness, look at those layered crucifix necklaces - perfection!

Another cheeky snap of this dress, the model wearing it was lovely too!

Thanks to the DIT Fashion Show team and of course all the designers for a fabulous evening. Best of luck to the remaining contestants, I have no idea how the winner will be chosen. For more information or photos you can check out the DIT Fashion Show blog
