Brown Sugar Hair Salon Dublin Review

05 November 2013

You've probably already heard of Brown Sugar Dublin, and with good reason too. If you're looking for a salon experience which reduces stress, rather than inducing it look no further.

Brown Sugar has two branches, one in Blackrock & one in trendy South William Street in the heart of Dublin's city centre. They also have just launched a sister salon Sugar Cubed, in other words there is a demand for their services - and rightly so!

Oasis Autumn Winter 13 press preview

26 September 2013

This week I was invited along to the Oasis A/W 13 press preview day held at their St. Stephen’s Green store. If you're on the hunt for the perfect winter essentials, as well as catwalk inspired pieces for your winter wardrobe Oasis is THE place to be. Their press day displayed everything from winter white coats, the fluffiest of knits (VERY on trend!) to the most gorgeous genuine leather pieces. If you can’t already tell I’m extremely excited about the Oasis offerings this season. Click below to take a look for yourself, this post is image heavy but you’ll thank me for it.

I recently signed myself up to Polyvore, I have no idea why it took me so long to jump on the bandwagon. I've always been partial to a good Polyvore creeping session. The fact that I can  virtually plan and brainstorm my outfits excites me so much.

Here's one of my latest outfits featuring my new Topshop boots, my white patent leather skirt & my new Rihanna jacket. Now to get my hands on those fab D&G earrings...

What are your Polyvore user names? I'd love to follow you all.

Rihanna for River Island red backless dress

16 September 2013

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending my Auntie's wedding in Kerry. The ceremony itself and the wedding reception were equally gorgeous. My auntie is a florist and created all of the floral arrangements herself, they were FAB. If I ever get married she better sort me out! I took a few outfit photos outside the reception venue, the view of the Slieve Mish mountains was so amazing. I'm such a city girl, but even I had to admit how beautiful the countryside was.

Zara tailored coat & white patent leather skirt

To me Autumnal dressing is all about clever use of layers and most importantly finding the perfect winter coat to off-set the onslaught of blustery days which living in Ireland ensures.

Penneys Primark A/W 13 Haul

27 August 2013

Working in Penneys (Primark) means that I’m constantly resisting the urge to purchase every new item that comes in the latest delivery. This is especially true during A/W, my favourite season ever and one which Penneys consistently produces lust-worthy pieces for. Click below to see what else I picked up.

Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff scrub review

21 August 2013

I’m very excited to be reviewing another product from the Cocoa Brown tanning range by Marissa Carter. In recent months the Cocoa Brown brand has really taken off, seeing it being stocked nationwide and also entering the UK market with Primark and Boots (to name a few) stocking their shelves with CB’s trademark bright pink bottles.

Rihanna for River Island A/W 13 - My Picks

19 August 2013

I don’t think anyone can fully comprehend the excitement I feel when I hear the mention of an upcoming Rihanna x River Island collection. A/W 13 Sees the Barbadian babe release her third instalment of garments under the River Island brand. After purchasing an ample amount from her previous two collections, I can honestly vouch that the fabrics and cuts of the garments merit the more expensive price tag. Click below to see my top picks from the collection.

White Minimal Zara Heels

26 July 2013

Like everyone other girl on the planet I'm in love with Zara heels. I think they have the best 'ladylike' low heels, avoiding over complicating their designs with excessive embellishment. A low minimal heel can pull a whole outfit together, in my eyes the best way to wear these heels is by pairing them up with more 'street wear' type looks. Think leather, mom jeans and over sized jerseys as dresses. Click below for more.

Littlewoods Ireland A/W 13 Press Day

23 July 2013

Last month I was invited along to the Littlewoods Ireland A/W 13 press preview held at Fallon & Byrne. I had such a lovely evening, we were greeted with a champagne reception and had our photos taken before the fashion show started (which is exactly when my camera decided to die!). The preview itself laid out some of the key A/W trends which will be found at Littlewoods for the upcoming A/W season. Personally I prefer dressing for Autumn & Winter months, so I was really excited to see a rail of chunky knits, as well as an endless supply of party appropriate dresses. Kildare Village - Globalista

20 June 2013
Hey guys,
Just wanted to share the latest video from Kildare Village Outlet, it has such a summer vibe and is definitely going to provide some outfit inspiration for those rare sunny days. This video is part of their latest Globalista campaign, which is all about those who have a love for value retail, fashion and travel (who doesn’t?). The video also stars the beautiful  Milla Jovovich and art director Julia Restoin- Roitfeld, both looking incredibly glam as they go about their fun filled day of Chic Outlet shopping . I would seriously love to live out a day in those ladies’ shoes!
I particularly love how both women managed to work a bold aqua colour into their outfits, whilst still maintaining a more minimal silhouette. This is just a small taster of the wide selection of clothing on offer at Kildare Village Outlet, I must admit I’m eager to see what other pieces they have in stock. I can’t decide if I love the embellished cropped jacket or sleek white blazer more, someone help me decide? Knowing me I’d probably pick up both jackets, I can’t resist a good bargain. Kildare Village is all about providing fashionable items at reasonable prices, and also ensuring that customers have a luxurious shopping experience.
I’m planning a trip this summer for sure, I’ve just graduated with my honours degree so it’s the perfect excuse for me to pick up some more ‘grown up’ pieces.
Check out the video, I’d love to hear your thoughts on whose outfit you preferred. Have you ever shopped in Kildare Village before? What are your thoughts on this more glamorous approach to outlet shopping?

The Return of the 90s Shoe

10 June 2013
We’ve all seen it creeping in slowly at the seams of fashion; the 90s. Now, it would seem, the decade is exploding onto our catwalks and high streets. We can see the trend in everything from scrunchies to crop tops, from jeans to sportswear, but the area of fashion it has disrupted the most has to be... shoes. People’s feet everywhere are clad with chunky soles, with jelly and with trainers; it’s 90s galore down there at we here at Luxe Models love it.  So we’re here to take a look at what exactly is so 90s about our footwear this summer...

Doc Martens
It started out as just a hipster thing (as all the great trends do), but now it’s official: DMs are back, and they’re badder than ever. Owning a pair of DMs is an investment; if you actually owned a pair in the 90s, I’m sure as anything that they’re still good to go some twenty years later! They’re quality clompers and they go with just about anything. We saw a revival of 90s grunge and punk on ss13 catwalks, so don’t be afraid do wear a pair of Doc Martens with little black dress; it works this season. And you don’t just have to go for boots; there are some super cool DM shoes kicking around too; we particularly love their spike-studded variety!

Yes, you heard right. And by Kickers we mean the school-yard throw backs that formed a big part of so many of our childhoods! If you go into any Topshop right now, you’ll find their shoe section littered with big chunky rubber and epic soles that eco our favourite school footwear to a T. What’s more, Kickers themselves has paired up with Lazy Oaf (the impossibly quirky and lovable London based brand) to produce five shoe designs that would put a Spice Girl to shame; they’re that 90s. Luxe Models fondly remembers donning a pair Kickers with our summer dresses, and we’re pretty sure they can be worn the same way today.

Jelly Shoes
Is it just us, or are jelly shoes amazing? We’re wondering why on earth they ever went away. Again, Topshop is doing what it says on the tin and acting as the top shop in which to pick up quirky trends like this one. They have a range of cheap to expensive jelly shoes, all of which look retro-chic with bikinis, shorts and crop tops.

Ah the memories! Asides from making 90s children feel old, we feel this comeback is the best one yet.

Festival Fashion - Jewellery

28 May 2013

Festival season is upon us, although I'm not a fan of camping or mud I do love the laidback and creative looks sported by festival goers. It's easy to get caught up on the issue of what to wear, but a strong piece of jewellery can become the key element of an outfit. Sometimes less really is more.

I'm in love with these festival perfect pieces from Persunmall, all of which would work equally well layered up for a decadent vibe, or paired with simple items of clothing to create a more edgy look.

My favourite has to be the claw bracelets, definitely on my to buy list!

Leather top & Black Gillet

25 January 2013
IMG_0054 IMG_0052

This is a very casual outfit I wore to go to the cinema. With the weather still so cold my first priority is wrapping up and staying cosy! Anyone who sacrifices their comfort on a rainy bitterly cold day is crazy in my book.

I layered a black fur gillet over a leather paneled jumper-ish top, which my Mommy picked up for herself in the Zara sale. I'm loving leather at the moment, especially in more pared back outfits like this one. Another great thing about leather items is they can easily be dressed up or down and carried from day to night.

Overall, not a very exciting outfit but something comfortable for a casual day out.

On another note these are my brand new hair extensions styled with sleep in rollers. I took the plunge and went for some Great Lengths hair extensions. Best decision ever, I love them! I got mine installed by Edel  Kavanagh who operates alongside Ceira Lambert as Great Lengths educators for Ireland.

YSL Arty Ring & Nail Art

18 January 2013
002 003

Just a short post to show you all my fab new nails I had done yesterday. They only cost €35 from Wild Tanning which is based in Tallaght. I'd seriously recommend them if you feel like treating yourself to a set of gel nails.

Also photographed is one of my favourite Christmas presents, kindly bought for me by my boyfriend. I at long last (and 2.5 years of serious lust) have my very own Yves Saint Laurent Arty Ring. I am so in love with it, the neutral stone is perfect for my colour filled wardrobe. It also compliments my nails so nicely which is why it made the cut for these photographs.

I'm planning lots of outfit posts once the atrocious weather clears up. Hurry up Summer, I can't cope with this never ending rainfall.

Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan review

16 January 2013

This post is a little different to my usual mostly fashion related ones. I'm a huge fan of fake tan, I'm fully aware that it's a love / hate affair for most people, but I'm proud to say I happily stand on the pro side of the debate.

There are two main factors which I consider with tan, firstly how dark does it make my extremely pale skin? Secondly the cost price. I usually use Primark / Penneys St. Moriz tan in the spray version which does the job nicely at just €4 per bottle, so it takes a LOT to sway me from my usual 'go to' tan.

I was kindly sent this brand new tan by Marissa Carter called "CB Cocoa Brown 1 hour tan". Marissa is a tanning guru here in Ireland, so when I heard she had released her own tan I jumped at the chance to sample it, especially knowing it retails at only €7.99 per 150ml bottle.

The website describes it as:

In just 1 HOUR this revolutionary, speedy self tan mousse develops into a rich Cocoa Brown colour.

Accelerating ingredients means the tan only only needs to be left on the skin for 1 HOUR and can rinsed off after that. If you prefer a deeper tan you can leave the mousse on your skin for up to three hours. (1 hour = light, 2 hours = medium, 3 hours = dark)

This is my natural skin colour, as I said I am completely white.

Here is my arm after the initial application of Cocoa Brown tan

This tan is amazing, the consistency is an extremely aerated mouse which smooths onto the skin easily. It gives an instant deep glow, which within one hour is fully developed. If you love an ultra deep glow you can leave it on for longer to allow it to fully develop. Also there is no biscuit or curry powder stench as expected with most tans, CB tan actually smells nice!

Another bonus is that the tan fades off well, I didn't get the horrible tell tale patchyness I often get with my beloved St. Moriz. Safe to say I have been converted!
